The Election Complaints Commission of Afghanistan has excluded the names of 13 candidates from the list of upcoming parliamentary election.
According to IEC’s press release, the candidates have been deprived of running for parliamentary election because of two main reasons.
The names of five candidates have been excluded because of their links to illegal armed groups, and the names of seven others have removed because they had not resigned from their governmental positions. Also, one candidate was deprived of running for elections because of fake identity.
However, according to a previous press release issued by the ECC, 85 candidates allegedly had links with the illegal armed groups. To see this press release, click here.
The final list will be announced by the Independent Election Commission on June 22, 2010.
