Afghan Voter Showing Her Voting CardCitizens of Afghanistan who are eligible to vote according to Afghanistan’s election law, and have not yet received voting cards, or have lost their cards; can get new voting cards from all 34 provinces of Afghanistan within the next two months.

According to Independent Election Commission (IEC), the voter registration process will start on 12th June and will run until 12th August 2010.

The voter registration centers will be established in all 34 IEC provincial offices. Each of the provincial offices will have a center of voter registration which includes one male and one female station and in maximum, will establish 5 stations considering the population of the area.

According to Election Law and IEC Regulations, any eligible person who can ask for voting cards shall have the following criteria:

1. Not registered in previous voters registrations.
2. Lost or damaged the voter card.
3. Have newly returned to the country or have newly turned into 18.
4. The voters who moved or changed their electoral constituency.

It is worth mentioning that all the voter registration centers will be open from 08:00AM to 05:00PM in official days. Obviously, special facilitates for women like separate stations, female staff and optional photographing have been considered.
